Tooth Restorations

Fillings

Applying a filling is a simple procedure used to repair small cavities and broken areas of teeth in a single visit. We use tooth-colored fillings for most of our restorations. Silver fillings are available also and can be an excellent and durable alternative in areas of the mouth that are not visible. In our practice, all permanent restorations are placed by a licensed dentist.

Crowns

Don’t hide your smile because of a broken tooth — get it repaired with a crown! As well as fixing broken teeth, crowns can also be used to completely change the appearance of a tooth for esthetic or functional reasons. Unlike a filling, which is placed into a tooth, a crown fits over a prepared tooth.

A crown requires two visits to complete. During the first appointment, the tooth is prepared for the crown. All decay is removed, badly damaged areas are built up, and the tooth is shaped to accept a crown. An impression is made of the tooth and a temporary crown is made. On the second visit, the temporary crown is removed and the permanent crown is cemented in place.
